Last-Minute Moving in Ann Arbor
Last-minute moving in Ann Arbor comes down to which deadlines you can still meet. A week's notice may leave time for a curb reservation, while a rushed date in mid-July can run straight into Art Fair street closures.

With last-minute moving in Ann Arbor, five business days is the number to remember. If you have that long, the city's curbside reservation for your own frontage is still possible on a tight street. A day less and it isn't, so we'd plan the truck around driveways and legal parking instead.
For non-construction work, an approved reservation lasts up to 72 hours, which is plenty for most moves, and city staff handle the signs. Don't file it before you call us, though. Your date depends on what's open on our schedule, and that should come first.

July and August collisions
Art Fair shuts downtown streets for most of a week. In 2026, closures began at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, and ran through Saturday, July 18, for a fair lasting only Thursday to Saturday. A rushed move near those streets may need another day, so check the city's closure page for the next dates.
August brings a different opening. The city's student move program has run One Stop drop-off days from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., free during those hours, for reuse, recycling, and trash. You unload into the bunkers yourself. If a rush leaves you with furniture you can't take, that may be your cleanest option. Confirm this year's days first.

What a short timeline still includes
Getting squeezed on time doesn't change the job. You still get padded and wrapped furniture, disassembly and reassembly, property protection, and a move coordinator. We shorten the planning, not the care. Evening and weekend times may be possible depending on what's open, and we don't charge rush fees.
Call with your deadline and we'll tell you the earliest opening we have. If that's too late, at least you'll know where you stand and can ask your landlord or closing agent for some extra time.

Ann Arbor Moving FAQs
There's no set number. It depends on our schedule and the size of your load. Under five business days you lose the city's curb reservation option, so parking becomes the first thing we'd sort out.
It can if either address is near the fair. Closures start days before the fair opens. Look at the city's road and lane closures page, then tell us both addresses and we'd plan around it.
Skip the curb. City crews won't collect large items there, and a fine is possible. Recycle Ann Arbor runs two sites that may take it, and the city's One Stop days are an option in August.
